Zomato LTD is Renamed to ‘Eternal’: Food Delivery Giant Unveils New Logo and Vision
Key takeaways:
- Zomato is rebranding to Eternal, a name it has used internally for two years.
- The company’s corporate website and stock ticker will change to eternal.com and ETERNAL.
- Eternal will house Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure under one umbrella.
- Deepinder Goyal sees Blinkit’s success as the turning point for the public renaming.
Zomato LTD to Eternal: A strategic shift
Food and grocery delivery platform Zomato is officially renaming the parent company to “Eternal,” marking a significant transformation.
The parent company unveiled a new logo and will transition its corporate website from zomato.com to eternal.com, pending shareholder approval.
Board approves new identity
In a letter to shareholders on Thursday, Deepinder Goyal confirmed that the board has approved the name change. The move signifies a broader vision beyond Zomato’s core food delivery business.
The company will now operate four significant businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure.
Why ‘Eternal’? A name with power and responsibility
Deepinder Goyal revealed that Eternal has been used internally for two years—since Zomato acquired Blinkit.
The name distinguishes the company from the Zomato brand/app. Goyal emphasized that Eternal represents a promise and a paradox, stating, “True permanence isn’t built on bold claims of invincibility or the swagger of success.”
Zomato’s legacy and entry into the sensex
Recalling Zomato’s journey from Foodiebay in 2007 to becoming the first Indian startup on the Sensex, Goyal shared how the company’s listing on December 23 last year marked a milestone.
He stressed that his motivation was never money but building something worthwhile.
The shift to Eternal marks a new era for the food-tech giant, but whether this ambitious move will resonate with customers and investors remains to be seen.
