Adobe Announces Major Updates

Adobe revolutionizes video editing with groundbreaking updates to Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Frame.io, enhancing workflows for filmmakers and designers ahead of Sundance 2025.

Key takeaways

  • AI-powered tools redefine search and accessibility in video editing.
  • Faster playback and HDR support elevate motion design workflows.
  • Frame.io integration streamlines cloud-based editing directly from cameras.

AI-powered innovations in Premiere Pro

The Premiere Pro (Beta) introduces AI powered Media Intelligence, transforming how editors locate content.

The Search panel uses natural language processing to identify objects, locations, camera angles, and spoken words. This groundbreaking feature works offline, ensuring security and speed.

Caption translation for multilingual editing

The new Caption Translation feature supports 17 languages, expanding accessibility. Editors can now display multiple language tracks simultaneously, making Premiere Pro ideal for global content creators.

After Effects: Speed and precision redefined

The latest After Effects (Beta) leverages a dual caching system that combines RAM with high-performance disks. This innovation ensures smoother playback of intricate compositions, even on older hardware, reducing preview time.

Seamless HDR monitoring

HDR workflows are boosted by support for PQ and HLG video standards. Enhanced HDR video scopes simplify color grading, aligning HDR processes with the familiarity of SDR workflows.

Frame.io: Cloud-based editing just got better

Frame.io now supports direct uploads from select Canon cameras (C80 and C400). Proxy files are instantly accessible for editing, and the footage can be seamlessly relinked to the original files, minimizing delays.

Adobe’s impact at Sundance 2025

Adobe’s dominance in film production reaffirms its leadership. Eighty-five percent of Sundance’s 2025 entries were created using Adobe tools. Notable films like Opus and Train Dreams showcase the potential of these innovations.

Adobe has pledged an additional $5 million to its Film & TV Fund, totaling $11 million. This initiative supports underrepresented voices in filmmaking and aligns with the festival’s emphasis on diversity.

All updates are currently available in beta. Adobe invites Creative Cloud members to explore these features and contribute feedback, fostering a collaborative evolution of their tools.

With cutting-edge advancements, Adobe empowers creatives to work smarter and faster, setting a new benchmark in video editing and motion design.
